The film ‘To Fife And Back’ was specially commissioned to accompany a unique performance of Michael Gordon's 'Potassium' by The Smith Quartet as part of AudioVision 2008 - held across the city of Liverpool in September 2008.

The nostalgic road movie from Liverpool to Fife to visit old friends was made in collaboration with artist Cecilia Garside. The trip is captured in short abstract sequences and edited to reflect the hypnotic and cyclical nature of the music. Filmed over the space of 72 hours, the piece features the M62, M6, M74, A701, A720, Forth Road Bridge, East Fife Coast Road, Pittenweem, Anstruther and Cellardyke.

The film was edited into 6 discrete sections that could be triggered 'live' during the performance using the VJing software Isadora.
